1. Taxes! Taxes! Taxes!
It didn’t take long before Democrats came forward with their 2010 budget balancing solution – a TAX INCREASE!
Just one month after the start of the legislative session, state senator and DFL candidate for governor Tom Bakk unveiled a tax plan that nobody likes – a sales tax on clothing.
This brilliant idea is a follow-up to Senator Bakk’s budget balancing approach from last year, which was to raise income taxes for everyone!
If elected governor, perhaps Senator Bakk, current Tax Committee Chairman, will propose raising both the income and sales tax, because as you know we are under taxed in Minnesota!

2. Say "No" to ObamaCare
Please join the “Kill the Bill Rally” on Saturday, March 13 from 12-1 at the State Capitol! Concerned citizens from across Minnesota will be coming together to protest a push by President Obama to force a vote on government-run health care.
Even though every major poll clearly shows that a super-majority of the American people oppose the current health care ‘reform’ bill, Nancy Pelosi is planning to jam the bill through Congress with a vote scheduled for next week.
If you care about preserving your right to make health care decisions for you and your family, please be sure to come to Saturday’s rally.
Bring a sign demonstrating your opposition to the bill. If you cannot attend, please call your congressperson and ask them to vote “no.”
3. Just Another Tax Increase
Sherburne County is seeking state lawmakers’ approval to institute a quarter-cent sales tax to pay for its share of the Northstar commuter rail line. The 40-mile rail line began operating last November between Minneapolis and Big Lake. Five other counties: Anoka, Hennepin, Dakota, Washington and Ramsey already collect this tax.
Northstar's operating costs are projected to top $16.8 million this year. Those costs are subsidized by Sherburne, Anoka and Hennepin county taxpayers, in addition to state taxpayers. Persons actually riding the commuter rail line contribute less than 20% of the total operating cost – while taxpayers subsidize the other 80%.
To add insult to injury, county officials do not plan to seek voter approval of the tax in a referendum.

5. Don't Forget the Taxpayer Protection Pledge
With the state of Minnesota facing unprecedented budget shortfalls, we believe it is critically important for candidates to communicate to the citizens of Minnesota, their positions on taxes.
The rate at which tax dollars are funneled into state coffers continues to climb, yet it is still outpaced by spending. Government continues to spend at unsustainable and irresponsible levels.
We need legislators to turn the tide on government growth and wasteful spending. Please ask all candidates to publicly commit to the citizens of Minnesota and sign the Taxpayers Protection Pledge today!
